Finland, Sweden, Norway, Lithuania, Estonia, and the Netherlands have signed a declaration of intent, under which they will examine a potential joint purchase of the CV90 infantry fighting vehicle.

The letter of intent was signed on the occasion of the meeting of NATO Defence Ministers held in Brussels.
The potential acquisition is in line with the development of infantry firepower and mobility, the replacement of obsolete equipment, and a significant increase in the number of combat vehicles in the current threat context.
In addition to combat vehicles, the potential joint acquisition would include training equipment, spare parts, and ammunition.
The joint procurement of CV90 aims to achieve advantages in terms of volume, compatibility, interoperability, and supply security, as well as maintenance advantages.
The letter of intent will allow further cooperation to be explored regarding other CV90 products, possible support to Ukraine with CV90 combat vehicles, and the inclusion of other countries in joint procurement agreements.
At the same time, the participation of the Finnish defence industry in the implementation of joint procurement agreements will be evaluated.
The CV90 combat vehicle will be in service in eleven European countries in the coming years. With the potential acquisition, the version in use in Finland would be the same as for five countries and similar in the main features to that of three other European countries.
