Poland
The Polish Ministry of National Defense has signed a contract with Lockheed Martin to modernize the F-16C/D Block 52+ fighter bomber line currently in service.
The contract worth $3.8 billion will upgrade 48 Fighting Falcons of the Polish Air Force to Viper or F-16V Block 70/72 standard. All upgrade work will be performed entirely in Poland, at Wojskowe Zakłady Lotnicze No. 2 in Bydgoszcz. The upgraded F-16 will feature a new AESA SABR AN/APG-83 radar, a new mission computer, a Mode 5 friend-or-foe identification system, a self-defense system, an ejector seat, and improved communication and data transmission equipment.
Czech Republic
BAE Systems Hägglunds AB completed the production of the first infantry fighting vehicle CV-90 Mk.4, intended for the Czech army. Equipped with a new Scania engine generating up to 1,000 horsepower (750 kW), the CV90 Mk IV features the latest heavy X300 transmission and increased maximum weight from 35 to 37 tons, with room for two more tons of payload without decreasing the vehicle’s agility. It also includes a new augmented reality system known as iFighting.
Finland-Sweden
Under the NORDEFCO Implementation Agreement for joint procurement of C4I systems, Finland and Sweden have placed a joint first order for KNL’s Manpack Cognitive Networked HF (CNHF) wideband radios. The contract, approximately worth €15 million, is expected to conclude by the end of 2025.
United States
In the United States, Lockheed Martin won a contract modification worth $720 million from the Department of Defense (US DoD) for the fourth year of production of the AGM-114R Hellfire II and AGM-179 Joint Air-to-Ground Missile (JAGM) air-to-surface missile systems.
Nigeria
The US Department of State has approved a potential Foreign Military Sale (FMS) to Nigeria, including 1,002 precision-guided GBU-12 Paveway II 500-pound bombs, 515 precision-guided GBU-58 250-pound bombs, and 5,000 semi-active laser-guided (SAL) APKWS II rockets.
