Introduction
The Armaments Agency of Poland’s National Defence Ministry has signed with Fabryka Broni “Łucznik” – Radom Sp. z o.o an extra order to supply an additional 23,000 MSBS GROT 5.56 mm caliber assault rifles.
The contract, which has already begun, has a value of PLN 307 million, equivalent to 72 million Euros, and the delivery of the new rifles is expected between 2027-2028.
Current Progress
Currently, the Polish defense has obtained approximately 230,000 MSBS GROT rifles based on previously signed agreements, of which about 160,000 have already been delivered to the Polish Armed Forces. With this new order, the total number of MSBS GROT rifles obtained and in the process of acquisition will exceed 250,000 units.
The new rifles will benefit from modifications implemented based on the experience accumulated by units using the first batches delivered to the Polish Armed Forces starting from 2017. Changes include the length and design of the stock, the length of the barrel, and other elements that determine the functionality and technical parameters of the firearm, improving its ergonomics and overall functionality.
Gun Development
The MSBS GROT 5.56 mm caliber assault rifle was developed in collaboration between the Fabryka Broni “Łucznik” – Radom Sp. z o.o. and the Military Technical University, within the scope of the Modular Firearm System (MSBS) project. The rifle adopts a modular design that allows quick adaptation to the user’s needs and is available in various configurations and versions, both of the classic and bullpup types.
