Introduction
KNDS Germany (KNDS) has announced that it has received the task of producing thirty-eight heavily protected BOXER sgSanKfz (ambulance vehicles) and ten BOXER training cars for the German Armed Forces (Bundeswehr).
The contract, which KNDS has received as a subcontractor from ARTEC (BOXER system OEM and a joint venture between KNDS Germany and Rheinmetall Landsysteme), includes an option for an additional one hundred and fifty BOXER sgSanKfz and one hundred BOXER driving school vehicles.
The contract’s value for the forty-eight vehicles is 352 million euros. The delivery of the vehicles will begin at the start of 2028.
Characteristics of the BOXER Ambulance
As the first link in the medical aid chain, the BOXER ambulance constitutes the basis for pre-hospital treatment. The ambulance’s variable mission module can accommodate a significant number of injured individuals, depending on the type of injury. Intensive care is also possible.
The BOXER ambulance offers the same level of protection for the crew as the infantry BOXER variant, making it one of the best-protected medical vehicles available on the market.
The BOXER Driving School
In turn, the vehicle for driver training serves as an educational aid for obtaining the BOXER driving license and is used exclusively for training purposes in peacetime operations.

The driving behavior and the overall weight of the vehicle for driver training are virtually unchanged compared to other BOXER variants; therefore, the trained driver does not require further familiarization stages for the transition to different variants.
