Saudi Arabia Confirms Order of 300 New M1A2 SEPv3 Tanks
As part of the agreements signed with the United States, Saudi Arabia confirmed that it will proceed with the purchase of 300 new M1A2 SEPv3 armored tanks.

These M1A2 SEPv3 units will add to the 575 M1A2S Abrams already in service. The existing units are undergoing modernization with new thermal imaging equipment, upgraded radio and data transmission systems.
Replacing M60A3 Tanks
The new M1A2 SEPv3 units will replace the M60A3s currently in use, allowing the Saudi Army to standardize their armored vehicle line on a single model with clear logistical, training, and operational benefits.
The Saudis have suffered losses to the M1A2S line in the conflict in Yemen against the Houthi, backed by Iran.
Improvements on M1A2S
Over time, the M1A2S have been improved to deal with threats posed by Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs), in the engine cooling system, and also bolstering the air conditioning system. The combat system has also been improved with next-generation thermal imaging and cameras.
