The Brazilian Air Force (FAB) has announced the successful completion of flight tests for in-flight refueling (REVO) certification between its two most modern aircraft, the F-39 Gripen fighter-bomber and the KC-390 Millennium transport and refueling plane.

This significant milestone, coordinated by the Department of Aerospace Science and Technology (DCTA) in collaboration with Embraer and SAAB, demonstrates the technological progress and operational capabilities achieved by the FAB.
In-flight refueling (REVO) equates to greater reach, longer endurance, and more significant deterrent power.
The work undertaken by the FAB, Embraer, and Saab to achieve this certification will, of course, benefit European Air Forces that have adopted both aircraft, including those of Sweden, the Czech Republic, and Hungary.
The C-390 can easily be utilized for in-flight refueling missions with palletized auxiliary fuel tanks, thanks to a ‘roll-on/roll-off’ loading and unloading system that allows easy installation in the cargo hold. Using two underwing Cobham 912E pods, it can transfer fuel to other Millenniums or different types of aircraft.
The 912E pod is a tailor-made solution that uses the latest technologies for the KC-390, aiming to meet the high-performance criteria of the aircraft, including the ability to support a large number of receivers at extended distances.
