Received by the Army Innovation Command

Received by the Commander of the Army Evaluation and Innovation Command (COMVIE) of Civitavecchia, General Francesco Olla and the 37th Commander of the 1st Armored Regiment, Colonel Fabio Facecchia, he paid tribute to the Banner, then he met with all the civil and military staff in a square named in honor of Marshal Chief “Silvio Olla”.

The MOUT project at Capo Teulada

After having received an update briefing from the Commander of the 1st Armored Regiment, the Chief of Staff of the Army continued his visit inside the Capo Teulada Range, stopping in particular on the new village for urbanized area training (MOUT – Military Operation in Urban Terrain), which is nearing completion, and the 1st Level Tactical Training Center.

The MOUT project has planned the construction from scratch of a training area inside the range area, consisting of a village made up of new prefabricated buildings and replicating a central and middle eastern urban context, composed of 21 buildings that allow for high realism training activities, fully adhering to modern operational scenarios.

Praise for the 1st Armored Regiment

**Gen. C.A. Masiello**, at the end of his visit, praised the work, professionalism and commitment of all personnel of the 1st Armored Regiment: “_We are living a new military era: innovation accelerates, threats evolve relentlessly and the operational scenario is more complex than ever. Everything has changed: the way we fight, the way we train, the way we are an Army. Today it is no longer enough to be ready for what we know. We must be prepared for everything, even what we cannot predict. This Force Preparation Center will be the hub of training for our armored and mechanized units. But no structure, no matter how advanced, can suffice on its own: its value will depend on the commitment, determination and sense of responsibility of those who operate there. For this reason I thank you, and those who will come after you: because you will be the ones to transform this vision into reality and to be its protagonists_”.

Tasks entrusted to the 1st Armored Regiment

Today, the tasks entrusted to the 1st Armored Regiment are not only focused on managing the local Capo Teulada Range, but they include the much wider supply of all necessary logistics support to units in training, the contribution to the development of training activities conducted also in high intensity scenarios through the use of both real ammunition, both the most advanced simulation systems.

Moreover, the use of the latter allows to replicate realistic operating environments for the needs of testing and evaluation of concepts and/or means and materials of possible future acquisition, thus becoming an extraordinary important laboratory for the Army’s capacity updating and adaptation needs.

The meeting then concluded with the signing of the Honor Roll and with the “Coffee with the Chief”, a moment in which a young representative for each category had a talk with the Chief of Staff of the Army.
