Vice Prime Minister and Minister of National Defense Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz graced the event.

The delivery of the first 15 Borsuk infantry fighting vehicles to the Polish Armed Forces implements the first implementation agreement signed on March 27, 2025. The agreement, which was concluded between the Armaments Agency and a consortium of companies consisting of Polska Grupa Zbrojeniowa SA and Huta Stalowa Wola SA, includes the delivery of 111 Borsuk infantry fighting vehicles.

The contract is worth about 6.57 billion gross zloty, equivalent to 1.55 billion Euros. The delivery of the ordered 111 Borsuk is scheduled for the period of 2025-2029. The agreement also involves a training and logistics package.

The 2023 framework agreement stipulates the Polish Defense’s purchase of a maximum of 1,400 vehicles equipped in various versions, including Żuk reconnaissance, Oset command post, Gotem medical evacuation, Gekon technical support, and Ares CBRN.

Features of the Borsuk

The Borsuk is a modern amphibious tracked vehicle designed to transport and protect infantry soldiers from light weapon gunfire, anti-tank grenade launchers, and IEDs.

The Polish IFV is armed with a 30 mm Mk 44S Bushmaster cannon/machine gun, a twin Spike LR2 anti-tank missile launcher, and a coaxial UKM-2000C machine gun of 7.62 mm.

The weapon system is housed in a ZSSW-30 remote control turret of national production. The crew, comprising the commander, gunner and pilot, transports a squad of six riflemen, offering them an appropriate level of protection and supporting tasks with onboard weaponry.

The maximum speed on paved roads is 65 km/h, and in water, it is 8 km/h. The combat weight in the base version is 28 tons.

During extensive testing, the Borsuk demonstrated high tactical mobility, significant firepower, a high level of ballistic and anti-mine protection, and an amphibious capability to ford large rivers and lakes; a unique feature for a Western IFV.
