In Germany, the Budget Committee of the Bundestag, the German Federal Parliament, has approved the purchase of additional G95 assault rifles and their related laser targeting systems that can also be used without night vision goggles (NVG) in low visibility conditions.
The Bundeswehr intends, in the future, for the G95 to be the standard weapon and to be distributed to all soldiers.
Therefore, the G95 will become the new standard assault rifle for the Bundeswehr, replacing the G36 as the assault rifle. As an ‘assault rifle system,’ the G95 is equipped with a main combat sight with a reflex sight and a laser sighting module.
At the end of 2022, the Budget Committee approved the purchase of nearly 120,000 G95 assault rifles. The new resolution now allows for the purchase of additional rifles to equip the entire armed force with the new assault rifle as quickly as possible; in fact, the Bundestag has approved the extension of the framework contract from 118,718 to 250,000 G95A1 and KA1, the short version for special forces, produced by Heckler & Koch.
The assault rifle G95A1 is based on the HK416 A8 and represents precision, durability, and modernity.
