The Australian Government has signed an agreement with the United States for the cooperation program related to the Precision Strike Missile (PrSM), allowing the Canberra Armed Forces to access PrSM ammunition.
The agreement involves the participation of the Australian industry in the PrSM supply chain, with options for internal production and maintenance in Australia.
The memorandum of understanding was well received by Deputy Prime Minister Richard Marles and United States Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth at the Shangri-La Dialogue, offering increased lethality to the Australian Defence Force thanks to the ground-to-ground PrSM missile launched by the M142 HiMARS vehicles.
Australia will invest significant financial resources to become a cooperative partner in the PrSM program and to establish the first Long-Range Artillery Regiment equipped with these missiles that reach about 500 kilometers in the initial version and strike with extreme precision the assigned targets.
