At the Slataper Palace, the year-end meeting of the Commanders of the Territorial Area of the Italian Army took place. The Commanders of the Northern and Southern COMTER, Infrastructure, and Territorial Support participated in the meeting, which was presided over by the National Territorial Commander of the Army, Gen. C.A. Gianpaolo Mirra.
At the “Ettore Rosso” Barracks, Gen. C.A. Mirra subsequently opened the _workshop_ between all Commanders of the infrastructure units and the ROGI, organized by the Commander of Infrastructure, Gen. B. William De Matteis. In addressing the participants, Gen. Mirra emphasized the essential role of the section in the management, maintenance, and updating of the infrastructure, which ensures the operation, training, and full functionality of the Army units. In addition, it secures the well-being of the military and their families.
Just a few months into the reconfiguration of the New Army Model, the meetings provided a beneficial opportunity to review the events of 2025 and define the activities for 2026. The aim was to consolidate operational synergies and procedures between the Commands and prepare for future challenges.
The National Territorial Command was established with the goal of bringing the Army closer to the citizens. It ensures an increasing collaboration between entities, authorities, and citizens and contributes to spreading the culture of Defense.
The innovation push in the Army, based on the pillars of technology, training, and values, led to the formation of the National Territorial Command. Its purpose is to provide the terrestrial military tool with greater operational capacity, flexibility, and adherence to the territory to avoid duplication and reduce bureaucracy.
In particular, the Army’s Military Commands are responsible for managing patrol activities, promoting recruitment, professional repositioning of discharged soldiers, document management, and the development and maintenance of the full mobilization ability of reserve forces.
