In the United States, the Naval Air Systems Command, based in Patuxent River, Maryland, has awarded a $1.1 billion modification contract related to the AIM-9X missiles to RTX Corporation.
The contract modification allows for the option to exercise the production and subsequent delivery of Lot 25 of the AIM-9X missile’s production needs.
In particular, RTX will produce 1,756 AIM-9X-4 Block II All Up Round tactical missiles, of which 808 are intended for FMS customers, and 242 AIM-9X-5 Block II+ All Up Round tactical missiles for FMS customers.
The contract also includes the production and delivery of 187 CATM-9X training models, 13 NATM-9X special training models, as well as 6 units for flight tests, 30 multi-purpose MPTM training models, spare part packages and conversion kits for USAF, US Navy, and FMS customers.
The contract work will be performed in various locations across the United States, in Canada, and in Germany; completion is expected by October 2028.
