Fincantieri and PGZ Step Forward in Polish Navy’s Modernization Process

Fincantieri and Polska Grupa Zbrojeniowa S.A. (PGZ) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) during the International Defense Fair MSPO, currently underway in Kielce, marking a significant step in the development of industrial cooperation in the naval defense sector.

The agreement was signed by Mauro Manzini, Vice President Sales of the Military Ships Division of Fincantieri, and Jan Grabowski, Vice President of PGZ. It lays out a framework for strategic collaboration aimed at supporting the modernization process of the Polish Navy, with particular focus on the ‘ORKA’ submarine acquisition program.

“Poland is a strategic partner for Fincantieri, and we are proud to contribute to its ambitious naval upgrading plans,” stated Pierroberto Folgiero, CEO and General Manager of Fincantieri. “With over 180 submarines built and a long and solid experience in advanced naval platforms, we are ready to provide our know-how to support the ORKA program and develop a long-term industrial collaboration with PGZ and the national defense industry.

According to the agreement, Fincantieri and PGZ will explore joint opportunities in the design, construction, and operational support throughout the entire life cycle of advanced naval platforms, including submarines. This partnership will combine Fincantieri’s technological leadership in naval construction with PGZ’s solid industrial base, which plays a central role in Poland’s defense modernization strategy. The common goal is to develop joint opportunities not only for the Polish Navy but also for international markets.

PGZ is the leading industrial defense group in Poland, owned by the state, and manages a portfolio of companies active in naval construction, offshore constructions, and the technical modernization of the Polish Armed Forces.
