In Spain, Airbus Helicopters has delivered the first pair of NH90s set up in the MSPT version or multi-role support transport to the Armada.

These are the first examples of the order for seven navalised NH90 MSPT to meet the requirements of the Armada, ordered as part of Phase II of the Spanish NH90 programme, which includes the purchase of 23 additional helicopters.
The MSPT version is characterised by the adoption of a reinforced landing gear, naval communication and navigation systems supplied to the Armada, and an automatic folding system for the main rotor blades and tail boom, a very important technical measure to facilitate the handling of the helicopter on the flight deck and inside the hangar on board surface units.
The NH90 MPST will play a key role in supporting the Armada’s Terçio in amphibious landing operations and the Armada’s Special Forces component.
The helicopter, equipped with digital avionics and state-of-the-art navigation instrumentation, is capable of transporting up to 20 fully equipped soldiers, day and night, even with a single pilot.
Spain is currently the only country to have purchased the NH90 for all three Armed Forces.
