The arrival of these advanced aircraft at the Silvio Pettirossi air base, near the capital Asunción in the presence of the highest Paraguayan authorities, represents a significant step for the South American country to face emerging challenges and improve surveillance of national airspace.

General Júlio Fullaondo, commander of the Paraguayan Air Force, stressed that such a purchase represents an investment to ensure security, national sovereignty, and sustainable development, emphasizing that such actions are fundamental for the future and modernization of the South American country’s military capabilities.

Meanwhile, Embraer has highlighted that the delivered A-29s are the most advanced of their kind and represent a major leap forward in Paraguay’s defense over the past four decades.

Paraguay has ordered a total of six A-29 Super Tucanos that are equipped with integrated avionics systems and are capable of operating in austere conditions with minimal infrastructure.

The Super Tucanos will be employed by the Paraguayan Air Force to perform patrol tasks, border surveillance, recognition, air defense against slow targets, and targeting of ground targets thanks to illumination pods and data communication and transmission systems.

The global fleet of A-29 Super Tucanos has reached 600,000 flight hours, confirming the multirole aircraft as reliable and economically viable in terms of purchase and operating cost, so far chosen by 22 Air Forces worldwide with over 290 orders passed to Embraer.
