In total, the agreement and the contract are worth about 5 billion euros. According to the first agreement, Germany will invest and finance in the future the production of long-range weapon systems developed and set up in Ukraine. During this year, a significant number of long-range weapon systems are expected to be produced and made quickly available for the Ukranian Armed Forces, with the first equipment to be deployed as early as a few weeks. Since it is already in service in the Ukranian Armed Forces, no additional training is required for the personnel to be deployed. The German Government will continue to support Ukrainian efforts, providing ammunition and other materials. In fact, in addition to the artillery ammunition supplies already promised for 2025, Germany will deliver other ammunition packages to Ukraine for various weapon systems, including crucial air defense systems and further ground weapon systems and light weapons. On the occasion of the Berlin summit, the Ukrainian defense minister and the German defense company Diehl signed a contract for the supply of IRIS-T SLM/SLS air defense systems and related ammunition to Ukraine, in the presence of German Defense Minister Pistorius. Included in the 5 billion euro package is also German support for SATCOM and communications of the Kiev Armed Forces, as well as the financing of medical equipment, also produced in Ukraine.
