The Athens Government has submitted to Parliament the act by which it decides to proceed with the purchase of the fourth frigate, currently optional, of the FDI type built in France at Lorient by Naval Group.

This frigate’s estimated cost will be 900 million euros, including purchase expenses and long-term support cost.
The contribution of the Greek industry to this frigate’s construction will rise to a 25% share.
The FDI program will reach an important milestone in 2025 with the delivery of the first frigate to Greece and the launch of the third ship, the HS Formion, expected by 2026.
With high anti-aircraft, anti-submarine, anti-ship capabilities, and special force projection, the HN FDI frigate will ensure the Hellenic Navy’s maritime superiority in the Eastern Mediterranean.
Onboard there will be 32 Aster missiles for air defence use, eight Exocet MM40 B3C surface-to-surface missiles, a RIM-116 Rolling Airframe Missile (RAM) system, two 20 mm Nexter Narwhal guns for point defence, a Super Rapido gun from Leonardo, four 324 mm MU-90 torpedo launchers, and two CANTO countermeasure systems.
