The Ministry of Defense in Prague has signed a contract with the British Supacat and its Czech partner LLP for the purchase of eighteen HMT vehicles intended for the 601st Special Forces Group, replacing the current Land Rovers which have now reached the end of their operational life.

The signing of the contract took place at the British Embassy in Prague.
The High Mobility Transporter (HMT) can be converted from a 2-axle to a 3-axle configuration to meet mission requirements, by installing or removing the third modular and autonomous axle.
Developed to rapidly respond to urgent requests from the British contingent during the Afghanistan mission, the HMT platform has a frame designed for resisting mine and improvised explosive device (IED) blasts and can be equipped with additional armor kits.
Moreover, the HMT platform can host specific suites for executing Intelligence, Surveillance, Target Acquisition, and Reconnaissance (ISTAR) missions, as well as diverse weapon types, from light, medium, and heavy machine guns to automatic grenade launchers, and launchers for anti-tank missiles and other types of C-UAS usage systems.
The Extenda, the version chosen by the Czech Defense, offers a unique “modifiable” platform with left or right-hand drive, easily converting an HMT 400 (4×4) vehicle into an HMT 600 (6×6). Thanks to the HMT’s variable height pneumatic suspension system, Extenda matches the capabilities of the twin platforms of the 400 and 600 series.
The 6×6 variant allows a payload capacity of about 3,800-3,900 kilograms and has a gross weight of 10,500 kilograms.
The HMT Extenda achieves a range of 700-1,000 kilometers, a speed of 120 km/h and, thanks to Supacat’s variable height pneumatic suspension system, high agility and comfort for the crew even on rough terrain.
