Javelin Missiles and Excalibur Rounds for the Indian Army: A Boost for Defense

The US Department of State has approved a potential double Foreign Military Sale (FMS) in favor of the Indian Government, specifically for FGM-148 Javelin anti-tank missiles (ATGM) and Excalibur projectiles.

The Defense Security Cooperation Agency (DSCA) has given notice of both potential foreign military sales to Congress.

Javelin Missiles

The Indian Government has requested the purchase of a hundred FGM-148 Javelin missiles, a Javelin FGM-148, fly-to-buy and twenty-five light Javelin launch command units (LwCLU) or Javelin Block 1 launch command units (CLU).

The value of this potential order stands at 45.7 million dollars and will be managed by the Javelin Joint Venture set up by Lockheed Martin and Raytheon that produce the missile and launch command units.

The execution of this sales proposal will not require the assignment of any additional representatives from the United States government or contractor in India.

M982A1 Excalibur Projectiles

The Government of New Delhi has also requested the purchase of up to two hundred and sixteen M982A1 Excalibur tactical precision strike projectiles.

In addition to the M982A1 projectiles, portable electronic fire control systems (PEFCS) with enhanced platform integration kits (iPIK), detonators, propellant charges, US Government technical assistance, technical data, repair and return services, and other related program support and logistics elements have been requested.

The estimated cost of this potential foreign military sales is 47.1 million dollars.

The main contractor for this delivery will be RTX Corporation and the execution of this sales proposal will not require the assignment of any additional representatives from the US Government or the contractor in India.
