The Underwater Thriller ‘Last Breath’ Features DRASS’s D-ONE Helmet: An Overview

**Ares Defense** had exclusive access to the Italian preview of _Last Breath (2025)_, the new **underwater thriller** that will hit theaters from September 4th. The film, capable of combining narrative tension and technical realism, brings to the big screen **a story of extreme survival in the ocean depths.**

Featured alongside the actors on the big screen is a distinctive detail: the **DRASS D-ONE helmet**, produced by the Tuscan company specialized in solutions for professional diving and advanced underwater operations.

Italian Technology

The film, which tells a story of tension and survival nearly a hundred meters deep while staying true to the original story, finds in the DRASS helmet **an added means to convey authenticity and credibility**.

This is not the first time cinema has turned to the world of defense and technology, but in this case, the DRASS helmet allowed the film crew **to convey more clearly the essence of each scene.**

The **large glass of the D-ONE**, through which divers can check the surrounding environment, allows the viewer to see the actor clearly **offering a comprehensive picture of a scene that would otherwise be hard to imagine.**

The presence of the DRASS helmet in _Last Breath_ is not a mere stage prop, but a sign of **technical realism and international recognition of the Italian brand**. Seeing on the big screen a device actually used by underwater operators brings the public closer to **the value of national industrial innovation.**

This was made possible also thanks to the collaboration with DRASS who managed **to meet the demands of the film crew**, another successful venture by the Livorno company.

For decades, DRASS has been a benchmark in the professional diving industry, **providing high-tech gear** to armed forces, commercial operators, and research centers worldwide. The helmets developed by the company combine ergonomics, resilience, and reliability, proving essential in extreme scenarios such as deep-sea diving, offshore operations, and military missions.

The Production

The official project announcement dates back to May 2022, when Alex Parkinson confirmed he wanted to direct a narrative version of the 2019 documentary of the same name. The principal shots were filmed in Malta starting from **May 29, 2023**, with the cast later completed with the arrival of Finn Cole, and finished on **July 17, 2023**.

_Last Breath (2025)_ debuted strongly in theaters, securing the **[second place](https://deadline.com/2025/03/box-office-last-breath-captain-america-monkey-1236305223/) in the US box office**, just behind the Marvel giant _Captain America: Brave New World_.

In the first weekend, it grossed approximately **7.85 million dollars**, ultimately consolidating a domestic gross of over **21 million**. Globally, the total exceeded **23 million dollars**, a significant result for an underwater thriller, a genre not traditionally mainstream.
