At Gölcük, the third Reis-class submarine under construction for the Turkish Navy was launched.
This is the MURATREİS, the third of the six Reis-class submarines planned; the deliveries of these vessels will be completed by 2028.
The Type of the Reis class
The Reis class project is based on the German Type 214, equipped with an AIP (Air Independent Propulsion) system with PEM FC (Polymer Electrolyte Membrane Fuel Cell) fuel cells.
The unit has a displacement of around 2,000 tons submerged, a length of about 68 meters, a diameter of 6.30 meters, and a draft of just under 6 meters and has a crew of 27 sailors.
Speed of the submarine
The boat reaches a speed of 10 knots on the surface and of 20 knots submerged, with an autonomy of 12,000 nautical miles at a speed of 6 knots.
Armament of the submarine
The armament of the submarines consists of eight 533 mm torpedo tubes capable of employing a maximum of 14 between heavy torpedoes Akya of Roketsan or Mk46 Mod6T and anti-ship missiles Sub Harpoon or locally made products, including the environment change version of the ATMACA cruise missile, as well as mines.
