Indonesia has signed a Letter of Intent (LoI) with France for the purchase of an additional batch of Rafale fight bombers and Scorpene type submarines.
About the LoI
The Letter of Intent also includes other materials like light frigates/corvettes and Caesar self-propelled artillery systems. It should be clarified that this is a guideline document, not a firm order. However, it is interesting to understand the dynamics of Indonesian procurement and the French sales policy of weapon systems in the sensitive Indo-Pacific area.
Between Rafale, F-15EX and other solutions
Indonesia is already a client of Dassault Aviation having repeatedly ordered a total of 42 Rafale fighter bombers between 2022 and 2024.
