Medium Tactical Vehicles commissioned for Lebanon

Medium Tactical Vehicles for Lebanon

The State Department in Washington has decided to approve a potential Foreign Military Sale (FMS) to the Lebanese Government of medium tactical vehicles M1085A2 and M1078A2 and related equipment for an estimated cost of $90.5 million.

The Defense Security Cooperation Agency (DSCA) has issued the required certification, notifying Congress.

The Lebanese Government has requested the purchase of medium tactical vehicles (MTV) M1085A2 5-ton without winch, MTV M1078A2 2.5-ton without winch, and spare parts.

A capability of medium-sized, highly mobile tactical vehicles will allow further intermilitary tactics and operational training between the United States and Lebanon.

The main contractor will be Oshkosh Defense, based in Oshkosh, Wisconsin.

The Oshkosh Defense Medium Tactical Vehicle (MTV) is a high-mobility 6×6 diesel truck with a 5-to-10-ton payload.

The M1085 version is the extended cargo version while the M1078 version is the standard cargo version.
