Elbit Systems Ltd. has announced that it has been awarded contracts by the Israeli Ministry of Defense totalling approximately 210 million dollars for the modernization of Merkava tanks.
These contracts will be fulfilled by Elbit Systems on behalf of the Israeli Defense over the span of six years.
Under these contracts, Elbit Systems will carry out extensive renovation of the electronic groups of the Merkava tanks to extend their operational life, as well as upgrading and strengthening numerous onboard systems.
Among these systems are high-performance electro-optic gun sights that are lightweight and equipped with artificial intelligence, providing panoramic day and night observation, as well as advanced target detection, acquisition, and tracking features.
The signed contracts also include the provision of spare parts and comprehensive maintenance and support services by Elbit Systems.
