Netherlands Orders Three More NFH NH90 Helicopters

The Netherlands has signed a contract with NHIndustries and NAHEMA for the purchase of three additional NFH NH90 helicopters.

The new helicopters will be handled by the Koninklijke Luchtmacht, or Royal Netherlands Air and Space Force, which has been operating with NH90s since 2010, with examples of the naval NFH and terrestrial TTH versions.

The Koninklijke Luchtmacht manages the naval NFH version of the NH90, of which twelve were purchased and operate aboard the primary surface units of the Koninklijke Marine.

Production in Italy by Leonardo

The three additional NFH helicopters will be assembled by Leonardo in Italy and delivered to the Koninklijke Luchtmacht, already equipped with the latest block-1 features, also known as Software Release 3 (SWR3), including advanced technologies like the Data Link 22, the next-generation electro-optical system, integrated new sonar sensors and additional armaments.

With the new NFH NH90s, the Royal Dutch Air Force will acquire an even greater operational capability on the battlefield, especially for long-range surveillance, identification, acquisition, designation, tracking, and engagement of targets.

These helicopters will detect and counter threats more efficiently while simultaneously communicating advanced and encrypted tactical information in real time with the cooperative assets of other Allies, effectively responding to modern interoperability requirements, thus ensuring maximum effectiveness in any type of mission.
