New Funds for the Conventional Prompt Strike

In the United States, the Strategic Systems Programs in Washington, DC, has awarded Lockheed Martin a billion-dollar modification to an existing contract related to the Conventional Prompt Strike fast attack system.

This contractual amendment will support program management, engineering development, systems integration, supply of long-term materials and special equipment and equipment in support of missile production and related launch platforms.

The work envisaged by this not yet defined contract will be carried out in various locations in the United States and completed by August 31, 2028.

The Conventional Prompt Strike is a hypersonic missile system for long-range precision attacks equipped with conventional explosive warheads developed in partnership with the US Army.

On Board the DDG 1000

The US Navy has begun deploying this weapon system aboard the DDG 1000 Zumwalt class destroyers as part of the upgrade work. Each of the three DDG 1000 will be equipped with four triple launchers for these ordnance.

This system allows the launch of missiles at speeds greater than Mach 5, capable of striking long-distance targets with unprecedented precision.

The CPS missiles represent a unique capability in the landscape of global naval forces, offering the US Navy a significant technological advantage. This type of weapon not only increases deterrence against potential adversaries, but also improves the ability to respond quickly to critical situations anywhere in the world.
