New motorcycles

Features

The new motorcycle will be equipped with skis, brakes and winter gear, replacing the current model MC258 Huskvarna. The Yamaha XT250 has been selected as the successor to the MC258 for its reliability and simplicity, and 1,000 motorcycles will initially be ordered to be delivered by Yamaha Motor Europe by the spring of 2026.

Delivery Timeline

The deliveries will continue until the first quarter of 2027, with the goal to train instructors and technical staff by the end of 2026. The new motorcycle represents the eleventh variant introduced for the Swedish Armed Forces, who decided to replace the existing model due to difficulty in obtaining spare parts.

Testing and Performance

Extensive tests were conducted in summer and winter on and off-road to verify the performance and behavior of the XT250. The new motorcycle has an operating weight of approximately 135 kilograms, an engine of nearly 20 Kw power with a displacement of 249 cm3. The XT250 for the Swedish Armed Forces’ needs will be equipped with skis, brake, and winter equipment.
