The new organization of Airbus Defence and Space will take effect on 1st July 2025, as previously communicated. The Division has completed all the information and consultation procedures at the European and national level for its adaptation plan and has reached profitable agreements with the social partners.

This process followed the announcement made in October 2024 to adjust the Division’s organization and workforce in light of an even complex business context, particularly in the Space Systems segment, where significant financial burdens were recorded in 2023 and 2024.
Among other things, the company announced that it would cut up to 2,043 positions, mainly in general management functions, and would guarantee greater end-to-end responsibility to its three business lines – Air Power, Space Systems, and Connected Intelligence – in order to better address future business needs.
‘I thank our social partners and Airbus Defence and Space colleagues for their constructive commitment and their contributions throughout this process. Managing organizational change is never easy for any of the parties, especially when it comes to adapting our workforce. The current geopolitical landscape requires a stronger, faster, and more resilient European defense and security industry. Our new structure meets this requirement through an efficient and effective end-to-end responsibility for our three activities, and a significantly optimized cost structure, while also preserving the ability to benefit from growing defense spending,’ said Mike Schoellhorn, CEO of Airbus Defence and Space.
As confirmed at the start of the information and consultation process, there will be no mandatory layoffs. The company also commits to minimizing the impact on its own employees using all available social measures.
