NUBURU Targets Acquisition of Italian TEKNE, Awaiting ‘Golden Power’ Permission

On May 22, 2025, NUBURU Inc., a leader in high-power laser technology, announced its intention to acquire TEKNE S.p.A., an Italian company specialized in advanced defense technologies, through an announcement on its website. This strategic move aims to strengthen NUBURU’s presence in the defense sector and integrate TEKNE’s expertise into its technology portfolio. The acquisition is subject to the approval of Italian authorities, particularly regarding the ‘golden power’ regulations that govern foreign investments in strategic sectors.

TEKNE

TEKNE is renowned for its advanced solutions in electronic warfare and cyber, with a team of 70 engineers and technicians dedicated to research and development. The company has developed jammer systems up to 8 GHz and is working on solutions for satellite systems. It specializes in vehicles like the Graelion 4×4 and the Shield armored vehicle, both designed for military and security operations.

NUBURU

Founded in 2015, NUBURU is known for its laser technology, which offers significant advantages in industrial production and shows promising applications in the defense sector. Integrating TEKNE’s technologies with NUBURU’s laser solutions could lead to the development of new products to address modern security challenges.
Our targeted acquisition of TEKNE exemplifies our commitment to expanding into the vital defense sector, while enhancing our ability to tackle complex security challenges,” said Alessandro Zamboni, Executive Chairman of NUBURU. “By integrating TEKNE’s advanced solutions with our breakthroughs in blue laser and niche solutions in operational resilience, we are poised to deliver cutting-edge products that meet the continually evolving needs of the $500 billion dollar defense sector and the emerging regulatory requirements in the security market.”

International Expansion

TEKNE has a solid presence in Italy and has initiated a strategic partnership with Flyer Defense in the USA for the production of high-mobility tactical vehicles. The company plans to expand its operations in the United States, including the establishment of a technology lab to serve American customers. With an order backlog of 309-million dollars, TEKNE provides NUBURU with an opportunity to accelerate its growth in the defense sector, estimated at 500-billion dollars. The combination of both companies’ expertise could lead to innovative solutions and greater operational efficiency.

Prospects

The acquisition is subject to the approval of Italian authorities, especially in relation to the ‘golden power’ regulations that govern foreign investments in strategic sectors. Once completed, the operation could mark a significant step for NUBURU in consolidating its position in defense and security markets, offering cutting-edge solutions to meet emerging challenges.
