Rheinmetall’s Hand Grenades and 40mm Grenades Destined for Estonia and Lithuania

Rheinmetall in Germany has announced that it has received orders from Estonia and Lithuania for infantry ammunition, with a total value of about 33 million euros.

Estonia ordered fragmentation hand grenades, with deliveries scheduled between 2026 and 2029, totalling approximately 17 million euros.

Lithuania ordered 40×46 mm HE Frag grenades, valued at around 16 million euros, with deliveries scheduled between 2026 and 2027.

The new medium-velocity 40×46 mm ammunition offers superior performance to LV ammunition, with greater acceleration and range, allowing for more precise shots up to 900 meters away.

This year, Rheinmetall will commence production of the Squad Support Weapon 40, the world’s first shoulder-fired automatic grenade launcher with integrated magazine, capable of firing MV and LV ammunition.

The range of 40 mm ammunition produced by Rheinmetall also includes 40×53 mm (high velocity) ammunition for automatic grenade launchers, with an initial speed of 130 m/s and a range up to 2,000 meters.
