In the United States, Rocket Lab Corporation has announced the acquisition of Geost, LLC, a company specializing in electro-optical and infrared payloads for national security, for $275 million.
This operation, which includes a mix of cash and shares, will allow Rocket Lab to enter the satellite payload sector for Defense and National Security, consolidating its position as a provider of complete space solutions for national security.
Geost, with over 20 years of experience, provides advanced sensor systems essential for missions such as missile alert and surveillance, supporting the objectives of the US Department of Defense for resilient space architectures like the proposed Golden Dome architecture and the Tracking Layer of the Space Development Agency.
The transaction is expected to conclude by the second half of 2025, creating new prospects in the space sector.
In this way, Rocket Lab is enhancing its ability to provide integrated space vehicle systems for the United States’ national security through the acquisition of Geost, which brings mission-critical payloads. This adds optical systems as a new category in Rocket Lab’s portfolio, confirming its role in the national security sector.
Rocket Lab’s goal is to offer complete and mission-critical space solutions, with the integration of advanced electro-optical and infrared payloads. These allow the spacecraft to detect threats in real-time and provide immediate responses, enhancing secure, responsive and economical support on a large scale.
Therefore, Rocket Lab aims to be a reliable provider of end-to-end space capabilities for the United States and their Allies, with more speed, intelligence and operational control.
Thanks to its large-scale manufacturing structure, Rocket Lab will meet the growing demand for high-level space solutions. The acquisition of Geost will lead Rocket Lab to own the manufacturing assets and intellectual property necessary to be a key player in the end-to-end space sector. The company will also benefit from the know-how of 115 experts from Geost, increasing its workforce to over 2,600 employees at various strategic locations around the world.
