SAKO Unveils the Arctic Rifle Generation

In Finland, SAKO has introduced the ARG – Arctic Rifle Generation, a new generation fully automatic carbine system developed in close collaboration with the Finnish and Swedish Defense Forces.

The Models of SAKO ARG

SAKO proposes three different models of the Sako ARG family: The Sako ARG 40 GP (Gas Piston) and DI (Direct Impingement) in 5.56×45 mm NATO caliber. In addition, the range includes the Sako ARG 50 GP, a semi-automatic precision rifle chambered in 7.62×51 mm caliber.

The ARG Platform

The ARG platform was specifically designed and built by SAKO to handle arctic warfare and was tested according to NATO D14 standards, offering unparalleled reliability, modularity and adaptability to missions for military and law enforcement professionals. The Sako ARG is based on the tried-and-tested AR-15 platform, improved with advanced technologies to meet modern combat needs.

Weapon Systems

The weapon is equipped with two distinct operating systems: a short-stroke gas piston system for extreme environments, which reduces heat and carbon buildup for maximum reliability, and a direct impact system for a lighter, more aerodynamic design, with refined precision and a smoother shooting experience.

Ambidextromy of ARG

The ARG is fully ambidextrous, with safety selectors, magazine releases and bolt stop mechanisms, ensuring intuitive use for both left-handed and right-handed shooters, a design that promotes quick and intuitive handling in high-pressure situations.

The ARG Trigger Group

Each rifle is equipped with a SAKO match quality trigger group, which guarantees a crisp and consistent shot for greater precision and control. The cold-hammered barrel, made with high-quality materials and coated in hard chrome, ensures long life and maintains precision for thousands of shots.

The Modular Architecture of ARG

The modular architecture of the ARG includes a configurable rear stock and handguard, with standardized mounting systems such as Picatinny, M-LOK, and parts compatible with AR. Operators can easily attach optics, thermal sensors, lasers and other tactical accessories, adapting the rifle to specific mission profiles.

Interoperability of Key Components

The key components are interoperable with standard AR-15 systems, simplifying maintenance and logistics, even in crisis scenarios.

In addition to the rifle, SAKO offers a complete ecosystem of compatible accessories, including optics, thermal and night vision systems, laser designators and tactical cases, supplied through a global network of reliable partners.
