US Army Places Orders for Javelin Missiles

The US Army has awarded the Javelin Joint Venture (JJV) an additional production contract for the fiscal year 2025 for the FGM-148 Javelin anti-tank missiles, and their associated equipment and services, with a total value not exceeding $900.5 million.

Brazil and Tunisia will also benefit from this contract, countries included in the Foreign Military Sales (FMS), whose Armed Forces use the Javelin in South America and North Africa.

The contract also includes FMS Javelin orders for NATO ally countries, Estonia and Bulgaria. Additionally, the award includes a FMS Javelin order for Australia.

This is a follow-on contract that falls within the scope of an Indefinite Delivery/Indefinite Quantity (IDIQ) production contract, initially awarded by the US Army in May 2023.

Earlier this year, the Javelin team began using new tools and testing equipment to improve Javelin production line efficiency and support the increased production rate in response to growing demand for this system, widely used successfully in the ongoing conflict between Russia and Ukraine.

To date, the JJV has produced over 55,000 Javelin missiles and more than 12,000 reusable Command Launch Units.
