Vietjet Orders 20 more A330neo Widebody Aircraft

Vietjet, the largest private airline in Vietnam, has placed a new order with Airbus for 20 A330-900 widebody aircraft in support of its strategic expansion in the next decade.

The agreement was signed in Hanoi by the President of Vietjet, Nguyen Thi Phuong Thao, and the President of Airbus International, Wouter van Wersch. The exchange of documents took place in the presence of French President Emmanuel Macron and Vietnamese President Luong Cuong, during an official visit by the French Head of State to the country.

This long-term order will support the continued expansion of Vietjet’s international network, allowing the airline to increase flights on high capacity routes in the Asia-Pacific region, as well as to introduce new future long-haul services to Europe.

The President of Vietjet, Nguyen Thi Phuong Thao, stated: “The modern Airbus aircraft, with their latest levels of efficiency and reduced consumption, have accompanied Vietjet’s growth and will continue to support the expansion of our global flight network. Vietjet continues to commit to offering increased connectivity and sustainable air travel to millions of passengers worldwide.”

Benoît de Saint-Exupéry, EVP Sales Commercial Aircraft at Airbus, stated: “Vietjet has established itself as one of the fastest growing airlines in the world, offering low fares and warm Vietnamese hospitality. We are proud that the carrier has chosen the A330neo as its primary widebody aircraft to consolidate its success, and we look forward to continuing our partnership with Vietjet’s expansion.”

The new contract with Vietjet doubles the firm orders for the A330neo, bringing them to 40 aircraft. In addition, the carrier has ordered 96 single-aisle aircraft from the A320neo family. Vietjet currently manages an all-Airbus fleet comprising 115 single-aisle aircraft from the A320 family and seven A330-300.

Vietjet currently operates international services to Australia, India, and Kazakhstan with its A330-300, offering passengers increased comfort and choice, even in Business Class. The A330 fleet will continue to play a key role in Vietjet’s expansion to further destinations, meeting the evolving travel needs of passengers at home and around the world.

Equipped with the latest generation Rolls-Royce Trent 7000 engines, the A330-900 can cover 7,200 nm / 13,300 km without stops. The A330neo features the award-winning Airspace cabin, offering passengers a unique experience, high levels of comfort, atmosphere, and design. This includes more individual space, larger storage compartments, a new lighting system and access to the latest on-board entertainment and connectivity systems.

At the end of April 2025, the A330 Family had received over 1,800 firm orders from more than 130 customers around the world. Like all aircraft in production, the A330neo is capable of operating with a Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) capacity of up to 50%, with the aim of reaching 100% SAF capacity by 2030.
