Viper Shield for Upgraded Polish F-16s
The Polish Defense has chosen L3Harris Technologies to provide the AN/ALQ-254(v)1 Viper Shield electronic warfare system for the country’s F-16 Viper upgrade program. As a result, the Siły Powietrzne’s F-16s set for modernization will have the same advanced EW capabilities available to allies using the F-16 Block 70 variant.
Viper Shield: Enhancing Capacities
The base version is integrated into the aircraft’s fuselage, saving space for additional capabilities such as a fuel pod that could be externally connected to extend the mission range.
Alternatively, the Viper Shield system can be installed as an external pod while retaining the same EW system hardware in an internal configuration. This flexible approach utilizes software-defined technology to enhance the offensive and defensive capabilities of the F-16 Block 70/72 aircraft.
Viper Shield: An Upgrade for Pilots
Viper Shield offers pilots situational awareness of the electronic landscape, identifying and combating threats to ensure survival and lethality in hostile environments. It supports future capability upgrades and engages with various F-16 fleets in different countries.
